The Sector of Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages
In Colombia, the beverages sector is the most dynamic one with USD$29.4 million exported to 29 countries around the world. A significant contribution for the growth of the domestic industry.
Therefore, the sector of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages is one of the most important for the country. A market that also has a long history and has developed thanks to large companies that have spent years offering products that reflect the Colombian culture.
Products that reach buyers in different parts of the world, such as the United States with USD$6 million (20.4% share), Spain with USD$5.3 million (17.9%), Dominican Republic with USD$2.8 million (9.4%), Ecuador with USD$2.6 million (8.8%), and Panama with USD$2.5 million (8.4%).
Due to the high level of industrial concentration, differentiation in products, and the exploitation of economies of scale, national companies are innovating; and they have developed beverages with special features such as flavored beverages without sugar, without any sweeteners or preservatives.
What is being exported?
Colombia currently exports different alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to several markets in the world. Among the supply of non-alcoholic beverages, the sector offers soft drinks, water, carbonated water, flavored water, juices, teas, energizer beverages, and dietary drinks, among others.
For the segment of alcoholic beverages, the domestic industry produces distilled spirits, fermented beverages, and beers. There are also rums and aniseed-flavored drinks ("aguardiente"), recognized for its high quality.
